The Space Between
A somatic meditation exploring presence and awareness
The Meditation
The Space Between begins with what is already here – your body, your breath and your immediate experience.
You are invited to notice contact with the ground, sensations of movement and stillness, and places of holding and softness. From there, the exploration gradually widens to include thoughts, feelings and emotions – not as things to silence, fix or get rid of, but simply as part of what is here.
As different aspects of your experience come into awareness, another question begins to emerge:
What is it that is noticing?
The meditation opens into an exploration of awareness itself – the space in which sensations, thoughts, feelings and familiar identities come and go.
There is no particular state to reach and no requirement to empty your mind. The invitation is to notice, allow and listen, with less need to work things out or make something happen.

Begin where you are
You can experience The Space Between lying down or seated, choosing a position that allows you to be comfortable and supported.
The meditation begins with the tangible – contact with the ground, breath, sensation, movement and stillness. You don’t need to know how to meditate or have any previous experience of somatics. There is no particular way you need to feel, and nothing you need to achieve.
As the meditation unfolds, the body remains part of the exploration even as awareness widens to include thoughts, feelings and the space in which experience is happening.

Meet Amanda
I’ve been exploring meditation and awareness for nearly thirty years. I began practising Raja Yoga meditation in 1997, and for eleven years meditation was at the centre of my daily life.
Since then, my understanding – and my experience – of meditation has changed considerably. I’ve explored different traditions and perspectives on awareness and being, alongside many years of teaching somatics and movement.
The Space Between brings these strands together. It begins with the immediacy of embodied experience and opens into a wider exploration of awareness, without asking you to adopt a particular belief or reach a particular state. I offer invitations and questions, leaving space for you to explore what they mean in your own experience.
Questions?
Do I need to know how to meditate?
No. You don’t need any previous experience of meditation or somatics. The Space Between begins with familiar experiences – your body, your breath and what you are sensing – before gradually opening into a wider exploration of presence and awareness.
There is no particular state you need to reach, and you don’t need to empty your mind. You’ll be guided throughout and can respond to the invitations in your own way.
How long is the meditation?
The guided meditation itself is approximately 42 minutes. The original session was taught live and also included an introduction, closing reflections and a post-meditation discussion, giving you just over an hour of material altogether.
We’ve separated these into individual recordings, so when you return to the course you can go straight to the meditation without having to move through the introduction or discussion again.
What happens after I pay?
You’ll receive an email giving you access to The Space Between in our online course area. You can begin straight away or come back to it whenever you’re ready.
How long will I have access?
You’ll have lifetime access to The Space Between, so you can return to the meditation and the accompanying recordings whenever you choose.
