Doorways into Meditation

Guided practices in body, breath and awareness

There are many ways in

Meditation doesn’t have to begin with a particular posture, technique or state of mind. It can begin with what is already here – the sensations of your body, the movement of your breath, the sounds around you, the ground beneath you, or simply noticing what is present.

Doorways into Meditation is a collection of six guided practices exploring some of these different ways in. Some begin close to the body, while others open into a wider sense of space, surroundings and awareness.

You don’t need to know how to meditate, or to make anything particular happen. Each practice offers a place to begin and an invitation to explore from there.

Meet Amanda

I’ve been exploring meditation and awareness for nearly thirty years. I began practising Raja Yoga meditation in 1997, and for eleven years meditation was at the centre of my daily life.

Over time, my exploration has widened beyond particular meditation methods into somatics, embodied awareness and simply noticing what is present.

The practices in Doorways into Meditation come from that ongoing exploration. Rather than teaching one way to meditate, I offer different places to begin – through the body, breath, sensation, the world around you and awareness itself.

Questions?

Do I need to know how to meditate?

No. You don’t need any previous experience of meditation or somatics. Doorways into Meditation begins with familiar experiences – your body, your breath and what you are sensing – before gradually opening into a wider exploration of presence and awareness.

There is no particular state you need to reach, and you don’t need to empty your mind. You’ll be guided throughout and can respond to the invitations in your own way.

How long are the meditations?

The first four are shorter practices of around 7-13 minutes. Earth Yielding and Earth Breathing offer longer explorations of around 30 minutes each.
You can choose according to the time and space you have available, or simply whichever practice draws you.

What happens after I pay?

You’ll receive an email giving you access to Doorways into Meditation in our online course area. You can begin straight away or come back to it whenever you’re ready.

How long will I have access?

You’ll have lifetime access so you can return to the meditation recordings whenever you choose.
