The Awaken Series
Explore your spine, pelvic floor and eyes – awakening to sensations, connections and possibilities throughout your whole body.
Some aspects of ourselves can be easy to overlook.
Your spine, pelvic floor and eyes each play a significant role in how you move, sense and experience yourself and the world around you. Yet much of what they do happens without your conscious attention.
The Awaken courses use somatic learning to bring each of them into focus. Through movement, sensation, breath, imagery and changes of attention, you’ll spend time getting to know them from the inside — not simply learning about your anatomy, but developing your own felt experience of it.
And these areas don’t exist in isolation. As each course unfolds, the exploration reaches beyond its starting point, revealing relationships throughout yourself — your spine with your ribs, pelvis and head; your pelvic floor with your breath, feet and throat; your eyes with your neck, balance and whole-body movement.
Begin with one part of yourself, and discover far more than you expected.
Awaken Your Spine
Awaken Your Spine is an extended somatic enquiry, approaching your spine as both a place to sense and a place from which movement can be organised.
Across the course, you become increasingly focused in your awareness: sensing different regions, different sides of the spine, its front and back, exploring flexion, extension, side-flexion, rotation and elongation, in ways that are often subtle and unfamiliar.
The spine, however, never remains an isolated object of attention. These explorations continually reveal its relationships with pelvis, ribs, head, breath, legs and the rest of your body. In the course, movements are initiated from different places, differentiated, combined, made smaller, imagined and reorganised — not with an intention to perform them correctly, but to discover what you can sense and what other possibilities become available.
It is less a course of exercises for the spine; more a course in learning to experience yourself through your spine – opening up greater possibilities for sensing and moving.

Awaken Your Pelvic Floor
Awaken Your Pelvic Floor explores an area of ourselves that is often spoken about in terms of ‘strength’, ‘weakness’ or ‘control’, but which can be experienced in far richer and more nuanced ways.
Across this course, you’ll explore your pelvic floor from the inside: sensing its different layers and sides, playing with varied ways of organising it, and using movement, touch, breath, sound and imagery to make something, that can initially feel indistinct, increasingly available to your awareness.
And, just as with the spine, the exploration doesn’t remain in one place. Instead you’ll discover relationships between your pelvic floor and your thoracic diaphragm; breath, throat and sound; your pelvis, hips and legs; feet and abdomen; your midline, eyes and the rest of your body. Sometimes your pelvic floor is simply the starting point. Often, focusing elsewhere provides a different way of experiencing it.
Through this course, you’ll develop your own felt sense of the layers of your pelvic floor, its movements and relationships – discovering possibilities that go far beyond simply contracting and releasing it.

Awaken Your Eyes
Awaken Your Eyes explores seeing as something that involves far more than your eyes themselves. We see with our eyes and through our eyes, but how we focus, look and orient ourselves is intimately connected with the movement and organisation of the rest of us.
Throughout this course, you’ll explore your eyes in many different ways – focusing and defocusing, near and far vision, peripheral vision, left and right, as well as the relationships between eye, head and neck movements. You’ll use practices including palming, blinking and the Tibetan Wheel, alongside movement, breathing and sensory exploration.
As the course unfolds, the enquiry widens. You’ll explore what happens when the eyes move with, or independently from, the head; how movement of the neck and spine contribute to vision; and relationships between seeing, breathing, balance, orientation and whole-body movement.
Using this course, you’ll be able to develop a richer felt sense of your eyes and the act of seeing; and recognise how something that seems to happen entirely out there, in front of you, is connected with the movement, attention and experience of your whole self.

The Complete Awaken Series
You don’t need to take all three Awaken courses. Each is a complete exploration in its own right, and you can begin with whichever one interests you most.
However, if you’re curious about all three, The Complete Awaken Series is available as one collection, giving you the opportunity to explore three very different starting points – spine, pelvic floor and eyes – and the distinctive ways in which attention to each can open into a wider experience of yourself.
Together, these three courses offer you more than 33 hours of somatic learning, plus additional bonus sessions, with lifetime access to everything.
Three courses. Three starting points. One collection to return to and explore in your own way.

Individual courses £149 each (£447 in total)
Who is The Awaken Series for?
It’s for anyone who is interested and curious to explore! You don’t need any previous experience of somatics to take an Awaken course. The sessions begin with things you already do – moving, breathing, looking, sensing – and invite you to become more curious about how you experience yourself as you do them.
If you already practise somatic movement, the courses offer an opportunity to immerse yourself in areas of your body that you may not previously have explored in such detail. You can use whatever learnings you already have as a launch pad.
The courses may also be particularly interesting if you teach yoga, Pilates, somatics or other forms of movement. Rather than giving you a collection of techniques to reproduce, they will offer rich material to experience for yourself – and perhaps new ideas and questions to bring into the way you work with others.
Meet Your Teacher
David has been teaching Somatics for over 17 years and working with individuals and groups for more than 30 years. His approach has been shaped by many years of exploring movement, awareness and breathing, including Somatics, Feldenkrais, Nia, Aerial Yoga and pranayama.
His interest in Somatic Movement began in 2009, following a bicycle accident and a period of relearning how to move and walk. His exploration of breathing grew from his earlier training in pranayama and developed further through his work as a Clinical Somatic Educator, where he became increasingly interested in the relationship between breathing, movement and the way we experience ourselves.
David has a remarkable ability to observe how experience unfolds. Rather than providing answers, he invites curiosity. Rather than telling you what to notice, he helps you discover it for yourself. His teaching has a quiet way of revealing patterns and possibilities that often go unseen, leaving you with a deeper trust in your own direct experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any previous experience of somatics?
No. You don’t need any previous experience of somatics to take any of the Awaken courses. The sessions guide you through the explorations, and you’re always invited to work with your own sensations, movement and curiosity.
Is there any overlap between the three courses?
Each of the three Awaken courses is entirely different. Although you may notice some of the same parts of yourself appearing in more than one course – the spine, breath or pelvis, for example – they arise within different explorations and relationships.
You don’t need to take all three courses, or take them in any particular order. Each is a complete course in its own right, so you can simply begin with the one that interests you most. If you choose The Complete Awaken Series, you’re getting three distinct courses rather than variations on the same material.
What do I need for the sessions?
You’ll need enough space to lie comfortably on the floor and move around. A firm but comfortable surface is ideal, and you may find a blanket or something to support your head useful.
You’ll also need an internet connection to access the course videos.
How long are the sessions?
The individual videos vary in length, with many between around 5 and 40 minutes. Some modules contain more than one video, so you can choose how much you want to explore at one time.
There’s no need to complete a whole module in one sitting.
Some bonus classes are from live events lasting up to 75 minutes.
Do I need to take the courses or sessions in a particular order?
No. You can begin with any: Spine, Pelvic Floor or Eyes – there’s no particular order in which you need to take the three courses.
Within each individual course, we recommend following the sessions sequentially, the first time. The explorations develop and build upon one another as the course progresses. Once you’re familiar with the material, you can return to individual sessions whenever you choose.
How do I access the sessions, and how long will I have access?
The courses are online and on demand, so you can explore them at your own pace. You’ll access them through ThriveCart Learn and you’ll have lifetime access, so you can return to the sessions whenever you choose.
What happens after I purchase?
After purchasing, you’ll receive an email with details of how to access your course through ThriveCart Learn. You can begin straight away and work through the material at your own pace.
If you purchase The Complete Awaken Series, you’ll receive access to all three courses.
